How to install in minutes Dockerized e-mail Server based on Postfix
Services details for Postfix eMail Server Docker installation
Postfix, the number two most popular e-mail MTA, with 34% use of all the world’s mail servers, is the main open source service in an e-mail server, without which messages could not send or receive, and responsible for sending and receiving emails between two email servers. Supports high-security secure communication using SSL security certificates.
Dovecot is an open-source service that offers POP3 and IMAP services from an e-mail server. The services are responsible for reading the e-mail messages through the two protocols. IMAP maintains e-mail messages only on the server, while POP3 can keep messages on both the server and the devices. Both services are also available in secured form.
MySQL or MariaDB is the service that stores the settings and configurations of the e-mail server as well as the data from the e-mail boxes (user, password, user-specific configurations, etc.) in the database. With settings in the database, php applications can easily access all available settings.
Postfix Admin is a suite of php scripts that help you manage your email server. Once the email server is installed and configured, with Postfix Admin you can add, create, modify domains, email queries, aliases, autoresponder settings, redirects, vacation, emailbox passwords, and more. It is available in over 30 languages.
Antivirus and Antispam
Clamav is an open-source antivirus capable of detecting and filtering over 7 million viruses and malware from emails passing through the e-mail server. It scans all the messages that arrive and leaves the email server by stopping the email if it contains dangerous attachments, by getting to the recipient or in the email box.
Apache SpamAssassin is the number one open source anti-spam platform, providing system administrators with a filter for e-mail classification and spam blocking (unsolicited e-mail). It uses a robust scoring framework and plug-ins to integrate a wide range of advanced tests of heuristic and statistical analysis on headers and email, including text analysis, Bayesian filtering, DNS block list, and collaborative filtering bases.
Webmail and SSL Certificates
Roundcube is an open-source Webmail that provides the ability to read and send emails through a secure connection using a web browser. Roundcube uses the latest web standards, while providing a simple, easy-to-use graphical interface similar to Outlook. Works fine also on mobile devices ;).
SSL certificates are used to secure and encrypt the connection between a device (PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone) and a server that visits or accesses a website, transfers data or reads and receives an email making it impossible to see the content of the data. We offer you an SSL Certificate for 2 years to secure all your email services!
